Belief Through Window Injures Two People

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Painful injuries were received by a young married woman and her father-in-law at St. Clair on Saturday afternoon when a bullet fired from a .303 rifle penetrated a closed window. The victims were Mr. James William McLay, railway employee, and Mrs. Margaret McLay. At about 3.15 p.m. they were seated in the sitting room of Mr. McLay’s home when without warning the bullet came through the window causing lead splinters to fly into the room and injure the occupanls. They were both taken to the hospital where their condition is reported not dangerous. Inquiries showed that the bullet had come through two paling fences before striking the window. The rifle was traced to the possession of a youth in the neighbourhood and was one issued to a Home Guard unit.
