Northern Ireland Drops Conscription
(Rec. 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 27. It is authoritatively stated in London that conscription will not be imposed on Northern Ireland. Speaking in the Ulster Parliament, the Prime Minister (Mr J. M. Am drews), said Ulster would loyally accapt the abandonment of conscription, but nevertheless Mr de Valera’s statement in the Dail was an unwarrantable interference.
“All matters concerning Northern Ireland are completely ■ ouaside the jurisdiction of Eire,” he said. “I repudiate Mr de Valera’s claim that we do not desire a friendly relationship with Eire, but Mr de Valera has aroused bitterness and animosity.”
