Trading At Steady Levels on ’Change

AUCKLAND, This Day.
Moderate trading at steady levels characterised business on the Auckland Stock Exchange today. Banks and Insurances were quieter, with few changes in quotation. South British confirmed the higher level recorded yesterday. First-class securities were in stronger demand, with sellers rarely giving way. Bank of New Zealands were firm, and close to business. Northern Steamships were adjusted on an ex-dividend basis, though the rate has yet to be announced.
Sales completed at the noon call today were: South British Insurance, £2/11/6; Leyland-O'Brien, 15/-; Farmers’ Fertiliser (preference), £ 1/2/-; Woolworths holdings (S.A.), 15/-; Napier Borough, 1/4/56, 4.', per cent, £lO5/10/-.
