The Auckland Education Board yesterday appointed F. W. Strumpel head teacher at Kerikeri school. The death is reported from Christchurch, of Mr. Robert-Malcolm Laing. M.A., B.Sc.. who was a master at Christchurch Boys’ High School from 1886 to 1926. Born in Dunedin Mr. Laing was educated at the Otago Boys’ High School and Canterbury University College. After being on the staff of the Timaru High School for four years he accepted an appointment with the Christchurch Boys’ High School. Mr. Laing was a prominent botanist, and was elected a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute in 1922.
