Eire Food Position Serious

RUGBY, January 1

. The Eire Minister for Agriculture (Mr James Ryan), in a broadcast, said the food position in Eire was rapidly becoming more serious. “I am quite positive that within a very short period supplies of imported food may be cut off entirely,” he said.

“If we are to survive the dangers ahead, all essential foodstuffs must be produced at home.” The Ministry for Economic Warfare has announced that from January 22 it will be necessary for exporters in Eire to obtain navicerts for ships engaged in trading to Europe and nonEmpire territories in Africa. Navicerts must be obtained at the last port of loading in Eire.
