Man Drowned In Wanganui River
.[Special to “Northern Advocate”] TAUMARUNUI, This Day. A single man, employed by the Public Works Department on the Waiouru Road was drowned in the Wanganui River on Wednesday afternoon. The victim was Mr Edmund Joachim Halron Neilson, 50, a labourer. He was spending the day with friends on the bank of the river two and a-half miles below Taumarunui. He decided to bathe and walked out up to his armpits. He then put up one hand and sank without a .cry. The body was recovered yesterday, and at an inquest a verdict of accidental drowning w.as returned.
