Mr E. G. Appleton has been reelected chairman -of the Northern Wairoa Dairy Company. A cable message from Bermuda states that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor have left Bermuda for the Bahama Islands.
The death occurred yesterday of Captain Joseph Corbett Scott at his home in Epsom, Auckland, at the age of 102. Captain Scott was the sole remaining member of the Pukekohe East Church Garrison, which was attacked by Maoris in 1863.
According to a Gazette notice issued last night Mr J. G. Duncan has been reappointed a director of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Mr Duncan, who is a State director, is one of the original directors of the bank.
In the latest copy of the New Zealand Gazette, the following were appointed to have control of the Paihia Domain, having an area of about 23 acres: Messrs W. F. E. Bedggood, G. Brobcrg. F. A. Hellaby, S. A. Carr. J. H. Gibson, V. H. Reed, J. D Hamilton and G. J. Morrall. The initial meeting of the board will be held at Paihia on August 28.
Mr E. E. Loach, for the' past six years housemaster at the Whangarei High School Boys' Hostel, was farewelled last evening by the boarders on the eve of his departure to take up a teaching appointment in Canterbury. The head hostel prefect (K. Wright), in presenting a travelling rug on behalf of the boys, referred to the progress which had been made during MiLoach’s regime.
