“We had no difficulty in selecting the first prize-winner, and it is our opinion that K. T. Robertson’s effort was outstanding in every direction,” in these terms the judges. appointed by the Ford Motor Company of New Zealand wrote when notifying Kupe of the prize-winners in the recent Ford Essay Competition. It will be remembered that substantial prizes were offered for the best :<say dealing with the Ford Company’s Works, visited by Young Northlanders who participated in the 'Kupe Club visit to the Centennial Exhibition. Entries were not heavy, but apparently those who did contribute wrote in a manner which definitely pleased the judges. ‘in handing over the prizes, we would ask you to extend to those who won, our congratulations and best wishes, and also to thank those who did net win for their efforts.” Prizes were awarded as follows: First Prize: I{. T. Robertson, Whangarei. Second Prize: Claire Williamson, Awanui. Third Prize: Harry E. Andrews, Kaipara Fiats. Fourth Prize: Nancy O. Masters, Kaitaia. Prize-money has already been posted to the winners.
