Western Otamatea Labour Party Branch

A pledge of loyalty to the Hon. Peter Fraser, Prime Minister, and to the principles for which the Labour Party stands was carried unanimously .at the annual general meeting of the Western Otamatea branch of the N.Z. Labour Party held at Paparoa on Friday evening. The president, Mr W. E. Roigard. presided over ,a large attendance of members. Prior to the commencement of the business, the gathering stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr Savage. A letter of condolence will be forwarded to the Prime Minister. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr A. li. Dallas; vicepresidents, Messrs M. Maras, A. Hellyn; honorary secretary, Mr A. Hailwood; honorary treasurer, Mr A. Hellyn; delegates to L.R.C., president and secretary; committee, Mesdames Dallas, Maras and W. Griffin and Messrs W. E. Roigard. W. Griffin, J. Deeming, E. Edwards, M. Hanlon, L. Thomas, D. Hay, R. Riddle, A. Neil, D. Neil, H. Smith and A. Skelton. It was decided to forward Mr A. Martin, the retiring president of the Kaipara L.R.C., a letter of .appreciation for the services he had rendered to the party in the Kaipara electorate.

A vote of thanks to Mr W. E. Roigard for his services to the branch was carried by acclamation. The first committee meeting was fixed for early in May, and it was decided that after that date the committee should meet on the last Friday in each month.
