Pungaru Maoris Visit Kaikohe
KAIKOHE, This Day. With the floor crowded to its fullest capacity the dance held on Friday night by the Pungaru Maoris and Ngawha basketball girls for the Red Cross proved a great success. The supper, provided by the Kaikohe ladies and the Ngawha girls, was very much appreciated by all, as was the music by the Okaihau Maori band. After super, Mr W. Knudsen, on behalf of the Red Cross committee, made an appropriate speech to which Mr Leas, of Pungaru, suitably replied. The Pungaru. Maoris brought with them a truck-load of kits, marrows, toheroas, corn and. other produce to swell the Red Cross shop funds.
