Bargain Stores’ Club Wind-Up Day
TENNIS
Saturday marked the closing day of an excellent season for the Bargain Stores’ tennis club. A good number of players took the courts, many visitors from other clubs attending. During the season interest has been keen and a good standard of tennis maintained, although the men’s sections have been depleted owing to several of the leading players leaving for camp. The president of the club (Mr J. Tudehope) welcomed the visitors and made happy reference to past season’s activities. A progressive tourney held during the afternoon resulted in the highest scores being gained by: Ladies—Mrs Primmer, Miss Creelman and 'Miss Stewart, Mrs Primmer winning the trophy on the toss. Men.—C. Wilson, D. Wilson and M. Faigent, C. Wilson taking the prize also on the toss. Mr McCarthy, club captain, presented tire trophies.
