Stock Exchange Opens Week Quietly
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. The opening call of the week at the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning was quiet, with bidding at the level on which last week closed. As was the case last \yeek, a larger number of sellers came forward for gilt-edged Government stocks. New Zealand insurances showed a firming tendency. Taupiri coal also jumped. The sale figure reported this morning was £1 2/-. ’ Sales completed at the noon call today were: Stock, 15/1/53 3J- per cent., £IOO 10/; Auckland Harbour Board, 9/7/57, 4;1 per cent., £107; New Zealand Insurance, £3 5/6; South British Insurance, £2 10/3.
Dividend.—An unchanged interim dividend of Gd a share is announced by the Union Oil, Soap and Candle Co., Ltd., payable on May 10.
