Licenses For Goods Bought With “Black Market” Funds
[Special to “Northern Advocate.”} AUCKLAND, This Day. Licenses to import goods purchased by funds obtained in the “black market” have been issued by the Customs Department during the past week to a number of Auckland applicants, subject to proof being produced, to the Reserve Bank authorities, that the funds were established overseas before the new finance regulations came into force on April 19. The action by the department is in accordance with the Government’s assurance that importing interests should not be prejudiced by departmental delays. It is also stated that favourable consideration is likely to be given to cases where licenses on a remittance or funds basis were issued, but the required funds had not been obtained in the “black market” before the enforcement of .the Government’s ban.
