Argentine Fears Losing British Trade

BUENOS AIRES, February'22. Now that the trade agreement between Argentina and Britain is on the point of collapse with no provision for its renewal, the Argentine Government is perturbed about the trend of the country’s trade relations with Britain. It has undertaken consultations with a view to securing at least a provisional agreement in order not to lose its most important market. The Government fears Britain reducing her purchases of Argentine beef from 6400 tons to 4000 tons a week, and shifting her major grain purchases to the Dominions. Significance is given to .an announcement that Britain has contracted for 1,000,000 dollars’ worth of Brazilian meat.
