Popular Win In Auckland Doubles

AUCKLAND, This Day.
A large holiday crowd attended the Stanley Street courts yesterday when the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association’s annual provincial tournament was continued.
The weather was fine and cool, and. except for a strong westerly wind, which blew across the courts, the playing conditions were ideal. Tlie standard of play in all sections was as high as it has been for several years.
A very popular win was scored by D. Livingstone and J. Roach in the final of the men’s doubles championship, in which they were opposed by A. S. Burns and W. T. Pountney.
The former pair come from the Waikato and they have been patronising Auckland championship tournaments for several years without meeting with success.
Men’s Doubles,
Semi-finals: D. Livingstone and J. Roach (Waikato) beat N. F. Bedford and M. T. Wilson, 7—5, 6—4, 11—9; W. T. Pountney and A. S. Burns beat L, G. Knott and J. Mason, 7—5, 6 —3, 6—4. Women’s Championship Doubles.
Third round: Misses M. and N. Beverley beat Misses P. Mitchell and B. Sherlock, 6—l, 6—4; Mrs Morse ana Miss P. Cooke beat Misses C. Buckley and B. Potter, 6—4, 6—l.
Men’s Singles.—Semi-finals: J. T. Mayson beat M. T. Wilson, 5—7, 6—3, 6—l; J. Roach beat W. T. Pountney, 6—3, 2—6, 6—o, 6—4.
