Final Play In Whangarei Bowls Tourney
Bowlers competing in the Whangarei Club’s annual tournament have experienced every kind of weather. The tournament opened on Saturday in fine, but boisterous, weather, and was continued yesterday under hot, sultry conditions, but with the green playing perfectly. Today the post-section play had only commenced when heavy rain fell and for the remainder of the morning advantage had to be taken of spells between showers.
The rain made the greens heavy and interfered to some extent with the accuracy of the bowling.
Holder Defeated.
Two players came through the seven qualifying rounds without a loss, McNay (Hikurangi) and Ferguson (Portland) playing consistently well to secure this success.
