Long-Distance Marriages

“Long-distance marriages” between soldiers at the front and their, sweethearts at home are to be permitted in Germany by a decree issued by General Keitel, German Chief of Staff, and Dr. Guertner, Minister of Justice.

The soldier must give his battalion commander written notice of his intention to marry, and this will be forwarded to the registrar at the bride's home town. The bride then goes to the register office and gives similar notice of intention to marry, whereupon the marriage is declared to be concluded.
