Three Competitions Finalised At Whau Valley
The three trophy competitions finalised by members of the Whau. Valley Ladies’ Golf Club during the weekend, resulted.—
Wakelin Cup, Mrs Day; eclectic competition, Mrs Georgeson; C grade trophy, Mrs Franklin.
In the final for the Wakelin Cup, Mrs Day beat Mrs McMillan, 5 and; 3. Best scores in the eclectic competition were: Mrs Georgeson. 93—28—65; Mrs Davis, 94—27—67; Mrs Williams, 98—27 —69; Miss Steedman, 101 —31 —70; Mrs Franklin, 108—36—72.
The best cards in the C grade trophy, over 36 holes, were: Mrs Franklin, 91. 72, total 163; Mrs Snow, 83, 83, 166; Miss Faithfull, 78, 84, 171.
Best scores in the final round of the eclectic and the C grade trophy, played at the v/eek-end were: Mrs Franklin, 108—36—73; Mrs Davis, 10G—27—79; Mrs Williams, 108-27-81,
Even Play In Captain v. President Competition
One game remains to be played in the Whangarei Golf Club’s match, President v. Captain. This game will decide the winners of the contest. Each team won eight games on Sunday. The match was a four-ball competition, which resulted: — Good and Marshall beat S. Clark and Wilson, 1. up; Glanville and Miller beat Bevins and Christiansen, 4 and 3; .Parsons and Potter beat Fulton and Bosking, 2 up; Day and Younger beat Morton and Birnie, 5 and 3; Gardner and Wilkinson beat Doel an'd Angelo. 2 up; Henderson and Walker beat Crr Jiinr., and Snodgrass, 1 up; Clarke and L. Weston beat Bennett and Frazerhurst, 1 up; Tucker and Hinder beat Walton and Booth, 2 up; Young and Hughes beat Herdman and Adams, 3 and 7; Surman and Lynch beat Pain and; Johnson; Lane and Brown beat. Potter and Luxford; Nelson and S. Weston beat Thomson and Feist, 1 up: Sheriff and Gray beat Cashmore and Morgan, 4 and 3; Sheen and Crosby beat Buckley and Dyer; Macklow and Barron beat Batcup and Steadman. 1 up; Campbell and Clarke beat Scott and Wood.
Mrs. Glanville Takes L.G.U. Medal Round
With a score of 82-11-71. Mrs Glanville won the L.G.U. medal round for members of the Whangarci Ladies’ Golf Club, at the week-end. Other good scores were: Mrs Sheen, 92-15-77; Mrs Beattie, 94-15-79; Mrs Webb. 115-35-80; Mrs G. M. Robertson 101-20-81. The following players qualified for the Trembath Cup competition: Mrs Sheen, Miss Rishworth. Mrs Lynch, Mrs Beattie, Mrs Brierley, Mrs G. M. Robertson, Miss Mirrielees, Mrs Clouston, Mrs Walton, Mrs Foster, Miss Walker, Mrs Roberts, Miss Rad'cliiTe, Mrs Trimmer and Mrs Lloyd.
