Waikato Deafeat Bay Of Plenty
HAMILTON, This Day
Waikato were rather fortunate to defeat Bay of Plenty at Rugby Park on Saturday by 11 points to 8. The game was played in a sea of mud The lighter and faster Bay forwards, breaking quickly, often took advantage of mistakes by the Waikato backs, who attempted to handle the hall.
Throughout the first spell and later in the second spell. Waikato kepi the hall on the ground, and by sheer weight overwhelmed the visitors Waikato’s first try was a brilliant piece of work, all the backs handling for Aitken to add penetration and Perkins to score.
M. Lees, the Bay of Plenty centre, also scored a fine try, and it was unfortunate that the day was wet and the ground muddy, as the match showed promise of being brilliant.
