Maurice McCarten Tops Sydney Jockeys’ List
(Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 30
The Sydney jockeys’ premiership resulted in a win for the former New Zealand rider, M. McCarten, with 87 wins and two dead-heats.
W. Lappin was second with 85 wins and four dead-heats, and E. McMenamin was third with 84 wins and throe dead-heats.
McCarten and Lappin were equal until the last race yesterday at Moorefield, in which McCarten rode the winner, while Lappin had no mount. G. Price, a former New Zealander, heads the list of winning trainers, with 29 firsts.
