British Troops Should Exercise in France
(Received noon.) PARIS, July 27
M.-Beaugitte, chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Army Committee, suggests that British troops should exercise in France, particularly on the Maginot Line. He points out that France’s new defences have created an armaments system with which the British are unacquainted, and for that reason it is necessary that they familiarise themselves with the fortification that an expeditionary force would man.
The French Mediterranean fleet is reported to be proceeding to Malta to join C 5 British ships for a “counterdemonstration-’ in the Eastern Mediterranean, where the Italian navy is concentrating for manoeuvres.
