Tientsin Blockade To Continue
LONDON, July 27,
A Japanese spokesman at Tientsin said the progress of the Tokio negotiations did not justify the relaxation of the blockade, which would continue until Japan’s demands were satisfied. The Japanese did not intend to put down antf-British demonstrations in the occupied areas. The Domei News Agency says the conference reached agreement on the main points, although there was some difference of opinion regarding the dismissal of anti-Japanese municipal employees in Tientsin and also over the extradition of the four alleged Chinese murderers.
The Japanese north of Hankow claim to have trapped 30,000 Chinese as the result of a fierce offensive launched yesterday. Supported by aircraft, the Japanese are advancing northward along the Peking-Hankow railway, basing their operations on Sinyang, 100 miles north of Hankow. A second force is manoeuvring in order to cut off the retreat of the Chinese.
