Soft-Ball Baseball For Whangarei This Summer?

There is every indication that softball baseball will be played in Whangarci in the coming summer. For some time suggestions have been coming forward for flic introduction of this popular American sport to Northland, and this week an organising committee was formed at an enthusiastic meeting of sports club members.

It is considered that the introduction of the game will prove a valuable medium in holding members of football and hockey teams together during the summer months, as well as providing thrilling sport for the public.

Clubs are in the process of formation, and a general meeting is to be held shortly. The organising committee is as follows:— Messrs R. * Boulter (chairman), P. Ainslcy (secretary). FI. Ferguson, C. Knew, J. Chauval, N. H. Dunckley. R. Fulljam.es, M. Painter, j. Connell, L. Vincent. J. Hackeit and N. Chissell.

A famous London (.Harley Street) specialist's tribute to the value of tobacco: “The ground on which tobacco holds so firm a footing is that of nearly every luxury it is the least injurious. It dees infinitely less harm than opium. It is in no sense worse than lea. Also, a thorough smoker is never a glutton. U brings quiet to the overworn body and restless mind. The ovcr-f.vrought man finds in it a quietus for his exhaustion/’ But the doctor insists that tobacco must be “pure.” Well, if purity is to be the criterion, hc'w many of the foreign tobaccos will fill the bill? Brands rooking with nicotine assuredly cannot bo considered "pure"! If you want a really pure article, go for the tobaccos grown and manufactured in New Zealand by the National Tobacco Company (pioneers of the New Zealand tobacco industry). Hardly any nicotine in them because they are toasted. They arc peculiarly soothing, cool, fragrant and delicious. Ask for Rivcrheacl Gold, Desert Gold (mild). Navy Cut or Cavendish (medium), or Cut Plug No. 10 (full strength). HP.IS
