Japan has been encouraged to cause trouble for Britain in the Far East, while assistance has been given the I.R.A. to embarrass Britain at a critical moment. It is known that ail German Army leave lias been stopped as from August Ist. Signor Gayda, Signor Mussolini s Press mouthpiece, writes: '‘lf the oncirclers involve Germany in war over Danzig, or anything else, Italy is ready to fight by the side of the Axis Powers. The first day British planes attempt to cross the Mediterranean in wartime they would find adequate Italian opposition."
Personals Mr E. R. Dunn is at present with his sister, Mrs C. Hamilton. He has been transferred from the Health Department. Auckland, to Whangarei. Mr and Mrs P. Craighead and son are spending a holiday in Hikurangi as the guests of Mr and Mrs C. Stockley. senr. Mr and Mrs M. B. Stephenson were at Hikurangi for the wedding of their son. Jack, who was married to Miss Dulcic Bates. Mfss Doris Boswell returned last week from relieving at the head office of the Wallace Supplies. Auckland. Messrs S. and J. Pomfrett. F. O'Callaghan, J. Brydon and C. Gibson leave for a week's camp at Ngaruawabia. Mr A. H. Cox. of the dairy company staff, is at present on annual leave. Mr Cfiff Edgar is home on holiday from Waihi.
