Fruitgrowers In Conference
[Special to “Northern Advocate ” 3 AUCKLAND, This Day.
The Auckland provincial annual conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation was opened by the president, Mr T. C. Brasch, yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary arrangements were made for setting up a New Zealand Citrus Fruitgrowers’ Council.
Mr A. R. Emanuel, citrus director of the federation, who acted -as chairman, welcomed the delegates from the Kerikeri, Tauranga and Auckland Citrus Fruitgrowers’ Associations.
Mr Emanuel tabled a draft constitution for the proposed council. It was decided that it should be submitted to the various associations, and that the assistance of the federation be enlisted in deciding upon the rules.
Difficulties in the working arrangements between the industry and the Internal Marketing Division were discussed in committee by Mr A. T. Honeyfleld, manager of the division, and the delegates.
It was later stated by Mr Emanuel that the industry felt, as a result of the discussion, that the situation could be improved from the point of view of quality as v/ell as the return to the grower.
A resolution requesting the division to call a meeting of the advisory committee of the industry with a view to placing matters on a payable basis was carried.
