Values Steady On ’Change

Apart from a general improvement in Australian metal shares, values were steady on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning. Reported business covered a wide range ,of securities, but only three lines moved up sharply to £2 8/7, sellers asking lid more, while offers of £2 12/ for the preference shares, the highest for some time, brought no responses from holders. Broken Hill South land Mt. Lyells were both marked up. ' ' Among New Zealand industrials, Reidnibbers had better buyers at £1 16/ and no sellers on the market, and Taranaki Oils looked stronger between 8/6 and 9/6. Australian industrials were firm. Bank of New Zealands declined to a sale at £1 17/, but New South Wales fully held yesterday’s advance, with buyers at £3O and no selling quotations. Insurance shares. Government stock and other classified issues showed little change. Sales completed at the noon call today were: Consolidated Brick, 8/10; WdolwOrths (Sydney), £1 4/4; Martha, 11/10; Emperor, 9/6.
