National Eucharistic Congress

[Per Press Association. Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day. The first general meeting of Roman Catholics in Wellington in connection with the National Eucharistic Congress in February next, was held ou Monday night. An outline of the programme was given by the Vicar-General of the Archdiocese. Monsignor Connolly, who indicated that it would bo the most impressive function ever held by the Catholic Church in this country.

Besides the Cardinal Legate from Rome. Archbishop O’Shea had been advised that leading members of the Hierarchy from England, Ireland and Scotland, and probably from France, Germany, Canada, and the United States, would attend.

Monsignor Connolly sought the meeting’s approval of the following appointments, which were endorsed as the central executive: —Secretary, Mr J. J. L. Burke; convenor of reception committee, the Hon. W. Perry, M.L.C.; procession committee, Colonel Evatt; school children’s committee, Mr P. D. Hoskins; transport committee, Mr P. Hazeldon; accommodation committee, Mr R. A. Clarke; social committee, Mr T. B. Guscott; historical committee, Father McGrath; building and grounds committee, Mr B. F. Kelly and Mr H. Meyer; publicity committee, Mr Pat Lawlor.
