Warm Rain Brings Mushrooms
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”l KAIKOHE, This Day. Mushrooms are now quite plentiful in the Kaikohe and Bay of Is- - lands districts. . , - They are' also being sold in Wfia- J ngarei shops, making their first ap- ; pearance commercially this autumn. '' '■ An orchardist at Kerikeri has had the pleasant experience of seeing mushrooms growing in considerable numbers on his front llawn, and has wasted no time in collecting the valued yield: Light rain fell in Kaikohe on Wednesday night, and was followed by warm 1 temperatures, which will prove ‘ of immense value to farms. Farmers had been afraid that as soon as the dry spell broke the weather would have turned cold, which would have had a disastrous effect in retarding fresh growth brought on by the rain.
