Football Dance At Waipu
The Waipu Football Club held its annual dance in the Waipu public hall on Wednesday night. The hall, which had been prettily decorated in the club colours of black and gold, presented a bright setting for the occasion. Mr Nelson Abercrombie acted as M.C. Winners of the novelty dances were: Monte Carlo, Miss P. Bowmar and Mr K. Moreland; Statue waltz, Mrs V. Tebbutt and Mr S. McKay; Spot waltz. Miss M. Tapley and Mr A. McLean. Among those present were; Mesdamcs Young, black lace; A. McGregor, salmon embossed satin; Peat, floral georgette; McLean, red lace; Tebbutt, green net over taffeta; V. Russell, blue georgette: F. McLean, green georgette: F. Rountree, blue taffeta; D. Maloney, blue embossed sheer; Williams, white satin. Misses Z. Gardiner, blue ripple georgette; A. McMillan, green kabe crepe; B. McKay, paisley voile; N. McLean, blue lace; I. McLean, black lace; P. Bowmar, blue satin; P. Higham, floral kabe crepe; I. McKay, saxe blue velvet; J. Bollard, gold taffeta; A. Higham, green georgette; A. Shields, floral moire taffeta.
All pensioned Saar miners under 65 years have been recalled in order to work 15 hours a day on the frontier fortifications, under the supervision of Berlin officials.
