Man Drowned While Rescuing Brother

[Per Press Association. Copyright. ] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A farm manager, Mr Stanley Oswald Topp, aged 26, of Amesbury Road, Salt Water Creek, was drowned in the Ashley River, at about 7.30 p.m. yesterday. With his three sisters, a brother .and some friends, Mr Topp intended bathing in a pool about 15 feet deep. His brother, Mr Arthur Herbert Topp, went in to the pool and got into difficulties. i

The rest of the party went to his assistance, but they did not notice that Mr Stanley Topp was also in difficulties.

When Mr Arthur Topp had been rescued it was found that his brother was missing. His body was recovered later. '
