“Hit-And-Run” Alleged Against Motorist
[Per Press Association. Copijright.l AUCKLAND. This Day. Arising out of an accident on Parnell Hoad on the evening of September 17, John Irvine Crawford, 26. traveller, appeared in the Police Court to answer four charges: Namely, intoxicated in charge cf a car; causing bodily harm to Mrs Phyllis Stevenson; failing to stop and ascertain if anyone was injured: and negligently driving, thereby causing bodily injury.

journed sine die. Evidence showed that Mrs Stevenson spent three weeks in the Auckland hospital with a cut eye. fractured forearm and bruises.
The car was proceeding at about 25 miles per hour. The woman pedestrian was thrown to the roadway. The car continued on. but later returned to the scene of.the accident and Crawford told a constable ho thought he struck something. He pleaded not guilty to the three charges and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
