Kerikeri Sports Marred By Rain
The Kerikeri Sports Club was very unfortunate on Labour Day, when rain set in and marred, to seme extent, what was confidently expected would be even a better meeting than that of last year.
j Gate receipts were down as the threatening conditions of the morning kept many visitors from outlying districts from attending. Entries also decreased, and a few events had to be cancelled through lack of competition. Results of Events, Following are the results: ICO yards, open: K, Gibbons (10yds* 1. H. Morel! 2. Time. 10 3-ss. 120 yards, open: 11. Morell (6yds) 1, McNaughton (syds) 2. Time. 12s. 220 yards, open: H. Morell (9yds) 1, McNaughton 2. Time. 22 3-ss, 440 yards, open: M. Austen 1. 880 yards, open: M. Austen (30yds) 1, G. Donaldson 2. Time, 2.22. 12-inch standing chop: Bob Harris 1. Harrison 2. Time, 21 4-ss. 12-inch standing chop; F. Ogle 1, McAllister 2. G. K, Williams 3. Nine-inch novice chop: F. Ogle 1. S, Smith 2. G. K. Williams 3. Underhand chop: G K. Williams 1, F. Ogle 2. The points prize for flat events was ! won by H. Morell. Judges for flat events were Messrs R. Niblock and W. Henson. For the axemen's events the judges were Messrs F. Butler, H. Hulme and G. Drake.
