Visitors’ Praises
Visitors comprising the NorthcoteEirkenhead senior reserve party were loud in their praises for the slate of the ground as compared with those in the city. Jubilee Park, they agreed, had many natural advantages, and they were impressed with the terraces on the eastern side.
With the proper formation of No. 2 ground, and the ultimate erection of a grandstand, Jubilee Park will be one of the foremost groundts in Northland, Saturday’s weather was the worst yet encountered for football this season. Players showed plenty of pluck in taking the field at all, and in the Northcote-Birkenhead v. City game they were to be commended for staying out as long as they did before calling a unanimous halt, after 15 minutes had been played in the second half. Portland and Kensington juniors stuck it out to the bitter end, but, as they played earlier in the afternoon, the wind was not so bitterly cold at that stage.
