World Outlook Depresses Mr Eden
(Received 12 Noon.) LONDON, June 12. Mr Anthony Eden, speaking at Leamington, referred to foreign affairs owing to his deep concern at the trend of events all over the world. “Unhappily, neither the political, trade, nor economic outlook,’ he said, “justies optimism. which it is even more dangerous to indulge in if we intend to preserve our liberty. “We are still far from understanding the extent of the dangers confronting us, and therein lies the chief cause for national anxiety. It is not in any failing of the British character or people. We can only avoid catastrophe by a gigantic united, national effort sufficient to show nations still believing in the power of politics that force will not profit the user.”
