The Waihemo County Council has received definite confirmation of the spread of white butterfly to its district, where accounts amounting to nearly £IOO were paid as the result of the council’s offer to pay 6d a dozen for the pests. Since the last council meeting 42,000 butterflies were caught. The record individual catch was 1275. It was decided to reduce the reward to 6d per 100 for the remainder of the hot weather,
