THE ADVENTURES OF MICHAEL
Mike runs on to the Platform as the train is drawing out! “Oh dear! I’ve missed my traini he cries, and frowns and stamps about. “This wretched watch of mine, alas, is now so unreliable. 11l find a new time-keeper, and ill get the best that’s buyable.”
“I Know the very thing for you!" exclaims friend Henrietta; It would improve your garden, too. A sundial! Nothing better Has been devised for keeping time. The sun will never lie. —Soon Michael's sundial Is installed —the best that he can buy.
But Henrietta didn’t say what happened when it rained. You see Mike looking for the time! His face is somewhat pained. “I do not know the time!” he wails, “because the shadow’s gone!” —I fear this Autumn that the sun can’t be depended on.
Mike’s sundial doesn’t have a chance —the days are dull or wet; And as Mike sits to have a meal he starts to fuss and fret, “Oh, dear! What am I having? Is it breakfast, lunch, or tea? —l’ll have to get another watch to keep the time for me.”
