(Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, June. 20., Wireless advice has been received in Sydney that the Burns, Philip, motor vessel Macdhui is' on fire oS Fortification Point, New Guinea. It is stated that, at 1 a.m., fire broke out in the fuel oil when the vessel was en route from Lae to Madang. The outbreak developed seriously and the 38 passengers took to the boats. After a little time, however, the flames were subdued and the passengers returned to the vessel at 5 a.m. ' A Second Fire. Shortly afterwards, another fire was discovered in No. 4 hold and it was deemed advisable to put ashore the native members of the crew, the vessel being only six miles off the coast. The passengers were still on board when the latest advice was received at 5.30 p.m. It was stated that the hatch had been sealed and the fire apparently subdued. The steamer Neptuna which was 300 miles away when the fire broke out, is going to the Macdhui’s assistance and probably will tow her to Madang.
However, she cannot arrive at the scene before tomorrow.
