Cautious Tone On Stock Exchange

A cautious tone, was noticed on the Stock Exchange this morning with a moderate list, of sales at the first call. Government stocks seemed easier, but ,two parcels of Mt. Eden debentures that came on the market , were readily placed at £6 10/ above par, Amalgamated Brick, Auckland, debentures, had fresh business at par. In the banking section there were few changes, and New Zealands looked firmer with a market between £2 3/6 and £2 4/. _•: .• :
There was a keen demand for New Zealand Brewery rights, and sales were made at £1 2/6 and £1 2/lh, compared with £1 1/6 last week-end. Slight improvement was noted in Australian Industrials.- Electro Zincs had buyers for the ordinary at £2 11/6, and, for the preferences, at £2 13/. Mt. Lyells were quoted 'ex div., with a market between £2 and £2 1/6. Buyers for Mt. Morgans moved up to 12/6. ... .. ; - ■
At noon the following 'sales were registered: New Zealand Insurance, £3 6/; Broken Hill Pty., £3 18/6; Consolidated Brick, £.3 7/6; Electro Zinc, £2 12/6,*-and.preference,- £2 14/6; New Auckland Laundry, £l. .
