Excursion Train To Auckland Well Patronised
The excursion train, which ran to Auckland on Friday night, and returned on Saturday, night, was well patronised, 450 people making use of it for a flying trip to the city. Fourteen carriages and two locowere in commission, the special leaving Whangarei at midnight on Friday and arriving in Auckland at four minutes past six. The return journey was commenced at 11.20 on Saturday night, and the train reached Whangarei again shortly after 5 o’clock on Sunday morning. About 200 of the excursionists came from north of Whangarei. The soccer test and trotting meeting were the principal attractions in the city.
