Portland Beat One Tree Point

On Saturday afternoon, the Portland junior team travelled to One Tree Point where they defeated the local team by 15 to 5. During the first half, Portland were continually on the defence. Then Bradley was successful with a plenalty, and this was quickly followed by an unconverted try by McGrath. The second half, however, was completely dominated by Portland. Brownhill opened the visitors’ account with a penalty, and from the drop-out Portland again attacked and Massey raced through to score beneath the posts. Brownhill converted. The next points came when Purchase dived over in a handy position, for Brownhill to convert again. The final score came when Massey raised Portland’s total to 15 with an unconverted try.

During the first half, M. Panaho, a One Tree Point forward, had to leave the field and have medical attention for a fractured rib. Mr J. Pitman was referee.
