Kamo Beaten By Marists; Takahiwai And Hikurangi Draw
League
\ LTHOXIGH the several hundred people who assembled at Jubilee Park on Saturday must have enjoyed the fare turned on by the Northland Rugby League, there was some disappointment in the principal attraction, the meeting of Marist and Kamo, •* it was not the Aucklanders who did not come up to expectations, but the local side. The green and golds showed themselves to be a clever : 'combination, .with speed all round, shrewd understanding and brilliant individualism. - / ’ ; : Ofl the other hand, Kamo repealed no form at all. Their display was n6t a shadow of what devotees have been accustomed from them during the last- few weeks. To a degree, it could be.said that they played as well \ as they 'were allowed, but, still, there was ho ekcuse. for the many mistakes. * particularly in handling, which were made, . Marist puzzled them with lovely concerted movements which brought tries scored in a'canter. The final score. 28 to nil. fairly * indicated hoW the Aucklanders dominated the game. t The curtain-raiser, the clash between Hikurangi and Takahiwai, pro- | vided a distinct contrast. It was a sterling struggle, a battle from begin- » ning to end. There was very little of the spetacular in it, but, for a solid duel, it could not have been bettered. The match was very evenly contested and. the, result, an B— all draw, was very satisfactory. r. rkv "j 1 ■*« • •• ‘r '* :!*’*. *. ■ ■ " ■ • • - - to Hikuraftgi to concede Whakapara their first win * of the season, by six points to five.
