FURTHER GAMES IN NINE-A-SIDE SERIES
Hockey
The nine-a-side competition organised by the Whangarei Hockey Association was advanced a further stage on Saturday. Organised to prevent a break during the absence of the representatives in Auckland at Country Week, the competition has now been played on three Saturdays, and it will take two more to reach finality.
The weather was ideal on Saturday, after a threatening night. Seven games in the men’s section were played at Kensington Park, and the ladies’ A grade games were decided at -the High School grounds.
Maungakaramea defaulted two games in which they were to take part, owing to sickness and other reasons.
Advice has been received by the secretary of the association, Mr H. Patterson, that July 3 will be suitable for the Rodney ladies’ representatives to play in Whangarei, as challengers against the Whangarei ladies for the Hannam Shield. MEN’S NINE-A-SIDE
