! (Receivel 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON. June 17. | The State Department disclosed to- ! day that it has again asked the princij pal naval Powers to agree to limit the calibre of guns to 14 inches. I Britain, France and Italy are uni derstood to have replied favour- | ably, but Japan is opposed to the proposal unless a complete agreement Is reached. .America’s two 35,000 ton capital ships are expected to be armed with 16-ineh guns. The Navy Department states* that tenders received for the building of of the capital ships from private ship builders varied from 46.000,000 dollarto 60,000.000. These figures are considered to be so high that both ship* may be built in the Government’s navy
