The Women’s Institute met in Brooker’s Hall on March 12, when there was a fair attendance of members for the annual meeting. Mrs Lindauer presided. The meeting opened with Creed and Song. —"'if •*. The annual report and financial statements were adopted. The following officers were elected:—President, Mrs V. Lindauer; secretary, Mrs. R. Brooker; assistant secretary,, Mrs Mundy: treasurer, Mrs Fowler; committee, Mrs Somerville, Mrs H. King, Mrs S, Adamson. ' The following were made: Mrs. R, Brooker, delegate to Whangarei Council; Mrs. H. Wright, competitions; Mrs Vipond, trading table; Miss- M. Simpson, press corres- \ pondent. The points prize for the year was won by Miss M. Simpson. A circular letter from the Dominion President deprecating the growing practice of raising money at Institute meetings for other bodies, was read. The roll call, “Idpas to brighten the programme,” brought forth many lively suggestions. Art union tickets were sold for the benefit of the Kawakawa branch of the Plunket Society. The retiring committee acted as hostesses. Community singing and the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
