Annual Meeting Of Basketball Association
The annual meeting of the Whangarei Basketball Association, was •held in the Whangarei Primary School on Monday, Mr R. T. Tudehcpe presided over a good representative attendance from' various clubs. Before the business of'the evening commenced, the president welcomed Miss Edwards, an active member of the executive committee of the Auckland- Basketball Association. It was suggested that the incoming committee should arrange for night competitions, and members were asked to obtain the services of as many referees as, possible. The North Auckland Lawn Tennis Association had suggested a plan whereby ’jthe Whangarei Bosketball Association might join with them in obtaining the use of grounds at Kensington Park. The North Auckland Tennis Association was willing to bear 80 per cent of the annual cost S;E the Whangarei association would be willing to raise the remainder. It was recommended that teams this year should be divided into four grades. Grading matches would be played on April 24 and competitions would start on May 1. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr R. T. Tudehope/ vicepresidents, Mrs Spring, Mr J. Tudehope and Mr Lowe; secretary, Miss Bosselman: treasurer, Miss N. James; assistant coach, Miss Edwards; selectors, Mrs E. Collins, Misses Edwards and Mclntosh. Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing executive officers and to the High School Board of Governors, the Whangarei School Committee and the Convent School for the general use of grounds, to the management of the “Advocate,” and to the Auckland Basketball Association for entertaining the visiting team.
