Stock Exchange Eases Off
ISvecial to ”Northern Advocate.”! AUCKLAND, Tuesday. With the approach of the holiday season, , turnover on the Auckland Stock Exchange is easing off perceptibly. At this morning’s call there was no business in Australian issues, and bidding for these was quiet. Broken Hills were offered 6d lower at £4 9/, without response from buyers. Buyers came in for Electro Zinc at £3 2/ for the ordinary and £3 3/9 for the preferences. Durffops had a slightly better market between £1 0/2.and £1 0/6, and Maurice Hedstrom were firm with buyers at £ 1 10/6, and no sellers. In the banking section, E. S. and A. sold 3d higher, at £6 10/6, with more available at that price. New Zealands weakened, and, after a sale 6d lower at £2 3/, the market rested between £2 2/6 and £2 '3/6. Taupiri Coals were again in demand at 16/, and a seller came in at 18/. In the unlisted class, Silknits were firm buyers, moving up to £3 2/6, with sellers at £3 15/. Government stocks were quiet, but there was fair i business •in local body debentures.
