MRS FREER RECEIVES NO WORD ABOUT BAN
Only Knows What Has Been Published >Per Pres? Association. Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day. Mrs W. M. Freer’s solicitor, Mr M. O. Barnett, stated last night that he had received no official advice about the possibility of the ban on Mrs Freer being removed. The only communication he had received from the Federal Minister of the Interior, Mr T. Paterson, was a formal acknowledgement on March 1, of his appeal to the Minister, requesting him to bring Mrs Freer’s case before the Cabinet for reconsideration. Since then, the only reference to Mrs Freer was a cable from Sydney published in the New Zealand newspapers, stating that the Federal Cabinet had discussed the ban, and that there was a disposition of the part oi the majority to lift the ban when a suitable opportunity allowed her to enter Australia quietly. At present, however, said Mr Barnett, there was no indication of Mrs Freer, who is living in Wellington, leaving New Zealand at present.
