THE MATTERHORN
! A man. might walk For weeks and weeks Among the stately Alpine peaks; In time his footsteps Would he drawn Towards the tall Mount Matterhorn. Perhaps he’d feel There was a spice Of Danger midst Its snow and ice, And long to scramble, Skate, or slide, Along its slopes, With rope and guide. And vow that nothing Should him stop until his hands Had grasped the top. If you, dear friend. Who read this rhyme, Are such a man As longs to climb, Then he advised And. heed my warning , And don’t, No, Don’t Go Matterhorning. —Copied. Joseph Nelley, Poroti,
