PERSONAL

Mr, L. Reynolds, of Whatitiri, chairman of directors of the Maungatapere Dairy Co-Op Ltd., was taken ill on Saturday night and was admitted to the Whangarei District Hospital yesterday. He is progressing satisfactorily.

Cable messages received by the “Northern Advocate,” frequently quote the name of Major-General A. C. Temperley, military correspondent of the “London Daily Telegraph.” During the Abyssinian War, Major-General Temperley represented his paper at the front, and. supplied many vivid descriptive articles. It is interesting to note that Major-General" Temperley, during the Great War, became well known to many New Zealand troops. Among them was, Mr C. J. Malloy, of Whangarei, who came into close contact with the Major-General the Gallipoli campaign. Writing to Mr Malloy recently, Major-General Temperley commented: “Gallipoli was a wonderful show, and I do not regret it at all. I especially treasure the memory of all the good friends I made in the N.Z.E.F.”
