BLOMPIELD BEATS SAVOLDI
Wrestling
[Per Press Association. Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day.
A wrestling match between Lofty Blomfield and Joe Savoldi last night came to an unexpected finish, Blomfield winning by two falls to one after an hour in the ring. There was plenty of hard work in the two opening rounds, most of it permeated with showmanship.
Although the crowd took it goodhumouredly, there must have been much disappointment over the dramatic suddenness with which the contest ended. Savoldi took a fall early in the third round. Blomfield retaliated at the beginning of the fourth,, and secured the winning fall in the fifth round. Three falls in four minutes 39 seconds was the record established.
